All Walks of Life

Tonight my family invited someone from our church over for dinner and, like all dinners, there was the typical "table talk" over yummy food, but as the table was cleared and the dishes were done, the talking progressed into a more spiritual direction. Our dinner guest was talking about how Christ saved them and how they have been transformed since their conversion, and they made a point that I thought was very interesting:

God has given us all a different past and path to walk.

This is so true, but how often do we use our past and path as an opportunity to evangelize, instead of excuse our sin? It's so easy to switch to "default mode" and justify our sin because of our life experiences, trials we have gone through, situations we were born into, etc. Instead, we should say, "By the grace of God, I am what I am." We should have an attitude like Paul, who acknowledged how God took him from being a persecutor of the church to a pioneer for the Gospel!

May we all be more mindful to use or lives and our pasts to put the glory and work of God on display, instead of excuse our sinful selves.
